Cannes Film Festival has beefed up security in the French city of Cannes just days before opening of the world’s biggest film event.
A recent media report said the city already spent millions of dollars to boost security ahead of Cannes Film Festival in the wake of French terror attacks.
This year’s run of the event will be the first edition of Cannes Film Festival to take place after the 2016 terrorist attack in French city of Nice which is located just a few miles away from Cannes.
With plans being firmed up for the world’s biggest festival, some festgoers are still hesitated to attend the event.
Set to launch a few days after France’s presidential vote, the Cannes Film Festival runs on May 17-28.
Yves Darros, head of Cannes police, was quoted by the media as saying, 'We were already thinking of securing this place before that [attacks]. Chicanes will also be created on the pavements.”
